CALL 911 USING CELL PHONES

You can make Emergency 911 calls using a charged cell phone even if the phone isn't activated.

When you call 911 using a cell phone, operators cannot automatically determine your location, so it is important that you tell them the location of the emergency and the number you are calling from. By providing this information, an operator can contact you if your call is dropped.

Many calls to 911 are accidentally made when a cell phone is placed in your pocket, purse or backpack. These calls are commonly referred to as "pocket" calls. For this reason, you should always make sure that your phone is locked when not in use.

Utah 911 services currently do not support cell phone texting.
